Camera Compatibility

Our church is using a Windows 10 with OBS installed. We are currently using a JVC GY HM170 to stream, with a Capture/Converter box, to Facebook Live. The JVC GY HM-250 camera can stream directly without a Capture/Converter device. Is this camera compatible with OBS and can it feed OBS directly for output to Facebook Live?

Yes you can use JVC GY HM170 - but you need to capture this via the hdmi output - I use elgato camlink on linux/windows.
Also the GY HM-250 can possible do some streaming to OBS - udp/tcp to something OBS can get -RTP so its possible.
You may need a firmware update to get SRT but I use elgato USB3 capture card - cleaper hdmi to usb is possible but not all provide 4K.

I did see someone was using outgoing udp from the cam and this also possible to add to the OBS - you can't stream both with obs to facebook live and directly from the cam - you would possible stream from the cams to OBS and let OBS do the live stream not both.

I use older JVC GY-HM150E only 1920x1080 25 frames ith raspberrypi4 computer to make my camera wireless doing stream to the OBS with the SRT protocol.

Anyway the new cams can speak with OBS - but some may "fake" a webcam on USB I can say what the GY 250 can do but I am sure that its possible to make it speak to the OBS.
