Good question. Er, I can't quite remember. It sort-of-came as part of the Ubuntu 23 update.

When I started having this problem, I re-installed from the web site via the flatpack interface.

Returning to that interface I now see that there were two OBS installations and had a 27.1.3 hanging around somewhere.

...reboot and continue

...installed unexpected firmware upgrade, etc.

Thought I'd follow the "other" installation methods. Oops, now I see that Flatpack is not recommended for Ubuntu.

Aha.

Many thanks.

If you have installed via PPA, there may be a conflict with the regular package on 23.04.

Ubuntu ships with its own 29.0.2 and it is claimed to be a newer version than the PPA by Ubuntu's package manager. You will probably have to explicitly tell it use the PPA version over the regular one (I don't know how exactly).
