I've heard the warnings about using extenders, but hope someone can help.
I'm using a weme cat5 powered usb extender with a BRIO webcam, USB2. It's always hooked up to the dedicated i7 laptop running OBS studio for video recording. It works beautifully when it recognizes the camera - audio and video, 1080P /24fps /2500 bitrate.
If I turn off the laptop, when I turn it back on it sometimes doesn't recognize the camera anymore. I don't know if it's always or just sometimes. With the laptop on and not seeing the camera, if I unplug the usb from the camera and plug it back in, restart OBS studio and it will see the camera again. It's like resetting things on the other end of the extender makes it work.
Anyone dealt with issues with ethernet extenders, and how can I go about trouble shooting it? I really don't have low cost options with the distance I have to run it (60'). The camera is seen every time when I don't use the extender so it must be the extender, but ... anybody? I don't want another option because it works fine when I just do the reset thing when it acts up.
