Question / Help Both my game and desktop audio are not being captured, but my microphone is working just fine.

I'm new to OBS and working with audio equipment in general, so idk how complex of a problem this is. I've tried several fixes in this session (changing sources, audio tracks, etc.) and ran many test recordings, but I kept encountering the same issue of no audio being recorded besides my microphone. One time I successfully captured desktop audio, but when I ran a game to test game audio neither worked after that point.

Here's the log of this session: https://obsproject.com/logs/NFZojqSAOyjnXFgG

The equipment I'm using consists of a Scarlett Focusrite interface with a Scarlett headset and an AT2020 microphone connected to it.

Thank you very much for your assistance in advance.

Can you post a screenshot of your advanced audio settings? (click the gear in the audio mixer, click the option in the drop-down)

Also, could you post a screenshot of your output tab under OBS settings?

Okay, I'll post the screencaps when I'm off work.

Ok, just wanted to make sure we weren't going down the wrong path. It does appear that it's a matter of the sources not being picked up by OBS.

First thing to check would be Exclusive Mode. Go to windows settings -> system -> sound -> Sound Control Panel (top right), then double-click on your output device, go to the Advanced tab, and uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".

If that doesn't work...

- Do you have any indication that you're getting audio in the mixer before you record, or is it only when recording?
- Which sources are specifically having problems / which do work?
- Does this only present a problem when you're in-game, or is it at all times?
- Is it only a specific game, or is it any game?
- Does it apply only when the game is full-screen, or even when in windowed mode?
- Have you tried running OBS in administrator mode?
