Question / Help Blurry/fuzzy video issues

Hey guys,

I'm new to OBS-MP and I'm having some issues with my 1080 video game recordings coming out blurry whenever there is motion on the screen. If I sit still, everything is sharp and clear, but that makes for dull video. When I move things get blurry and it is very annoying.

My PC specs are as follows:

Windows 10
AMD FX 8350 8core 4.4ghz CPU
16GB RAM
2 SSD OS drives in RAID 1 array (250gb each)
2 7500rpm storage/recording drives in RAID 1 array (1TB each)
1 spare 7500rpm 750GB drive on eSATA
AMD Radeon R9 290
1000 watt power supply


That should be plenty of power, especially since my first game recordings have been in Minecraft, which is not known for it's heavy PC load.

I have literally JUST started using OBS-MP so I'm sure I'm overlooking something stupidly obvious, like the noob user that I am. About the only things I changed were the recording size (bumped to 1080) and the file format (changed to MP4). What am I missing?

If you didn't adjust your video bitrate that would make the video come out 'blurry'. Just for kicks try setting your bitrate to 30,000 and let me know if it's blurry anymore. :D. Under Output in Settings

Heh, I know I know. Just so demanding. :D

Just one more question: The settings recommended in the link Osiris posted worked GREAT for quality, but OMG FILESIZE! Is there any way to get similar quality without the gigantic files sizes involved? Just as a comparison, my file size under the original settings was between 300 and 600 MB per recording (roughly 20 minute recordings) But a less than 5 minute recording under the new settings was almost 400MB! That is ridiculously huge! I would like to be able to make a roughly 20minute recording while keeping the total file size under 1GB if possible.

Am I asking the impossible of OBS-MP?

And be glad I didn't recommend the huffy/flac settings that can easily eat 85GB for 15 minute recordings.

I'll go with small file size and high quality for 100, Alex.

Seriously. I have CPU power to spare. I will gladly give up cycles to get clear recordings with a reasonable file size. I have more than enough to go around.

Oh dear Lord! Yeah, that would be a non-starter for me, even if my editing software could read those formats. I can pretty much only record in MP4 and MOV because that is all that OBS puts out that my editing software can read. (Camtasia Studio 8. I really need to upgrade to Sony Vegas Movie Maker or something better.)
