Question / Help Black Screen When Recording

I get a black screen when I try to record anything, be it my desktop or a game. I know that there are different "modes" of capture as such and I know how to use them and set them up. I get a picture of what I'm recording and it moves when the game moves. When I finish recording something, though, and I go to view, I get the sounds of the game/desktop but there is no video whatsoever.
