Good evening! I've posted about this issue on a sub-reddit as well, but so far I haven't stumbled across a solution. I spent most of last night looking for other threads/forum posts regarding this issue, and there appears to be quite a few of them. However, I'm not sure if this is related to the Distro, Wayland/X11, OBS, Nvidia, or some other part of my system.
The problem: When trying to capture footage of any video game using the source "Window Capture (Xcomposite)", I receive a black screen both in the preview, and when playing back the recording. I don't use "Screen Capture" as it results in choppy footage when not on the desktop, but it does work.
What I've done: Every thread I came across mentioned that Wayland is the root issue. I edited the "/etc/gdm3/custom.conf" file so that Wayland is set to false. The issue still persists. I've also ticked the box under "properties" in OBS that reads "Use alpha-less texture format (Mesa workaround)". I've also checked both native Linux games, as well as WINE/Proton games.
My system + Logs: RTX 3060ti | Nvidia Driver Version 495.46 (down grading does not fix my problem)
Ubuntu 21.10
Windowing System set to "X11".
Gnome 40.4.0
I've used both OBS programs in the PPA, and in the Snap store
3 Samsung monitors - 2 on HDMI, 1 on Display Port.
