Black screen on Lenovo T530

I am trying to download some old miniDV tapes using the IEEE1394 port on a Lenove Thinkpad T530 running Windows 10. I have read the Blackscreen thread and tried each of the recommenations but still get a black screen.

I know the IEEE1394 connection is working as I have tried WINDV.exe and can see the video from my Canon Camcorder fine, although if I try and record I get a lot of dropped frames.

Make sure that the device supports DirectShow when trying to capture it with OBS and the "Video Capture Device" source. If this is VfW device only - then no go with OBS.

Apparently the Canon MV700 only supports DV transfer via FireWire and will not work with Directshow. Thank you for your input, very much appreciated.
