This machine has 2 GPU's so telling OBS which one it should be looking at (Nvidia GTX970M) has always been problematic (tutorials on YouTube only helpful to a point). After getting this laptop earlier this year, I wrote about the fix that has worked up until now here:

As of today that is no longer working and attempts to record game-play in several different ones is again failing to capture the video (black screen). Log was uploaded and link to that is below. I will try removing then re-installing OBS to see if that helps.
