Question / Help Black screen issues on desktop with GTX 1080 Ti

Hello everybody,

I recently installed the newest OBS 21.0.1 for purposes of recording and streaming Prepar3D flight simulator. I ran into several issues while trying to configure it.

When I select "Window capture", it doesn't display all the windows that are currently opened. For example it doesn't see Google Chrome by default. Then I make Chrome the active window and then it appears in OBS. However, when I select it, it's just black (or more like transparent). You can see that on the following picture. Chrome is clearly opened in the background and it shows black in OBS.

On the other hand it displays windows that are NOT opened, like a Windows calculator. If I select it, it's black as well.

When I try to capture games, the fucntionality goes as follows:
  • "Game capture" of Call of Duty WWII works but it lags severely...
  • "Game capture" of Prepar3D gives black screen
  • "Window capture" of Prepar3D gives black screen as well
  • But remember that even Google Chrome window gives black screen
There is a start-up screen within Prepar3D where you select an aircraft, your location, weather etc... When I try to capture this window, it shows but the rotating plane selection screen is BLACK within this start-up window. In other words, it displays stationary window but not the actual game graphics. This phenomenon is shown in the following picture. As you can see, the plane (which is the game engine) is blacked out in OBS.

I have the latest GPU driver (actually the today's version 390.77 from Nvidia).

My specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.6 GHz | GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti @ 2027 MHz | RAM: 2x4 GB Kingston Fury HyperX 1600 MHz | MOBO: Gigabyte Z97 P-D3 | SSD: Kingston 256 GB | HDD: Western Digital 1 TB | CPU COOLER: Corsair H115i | CASE: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D | PSU: Seasonic Prime 80+ Gold 750W

I have Windows 10 64bit and also OBS 64bit. I run OBS as administrator and tried running it in compatibility mode for Win 7. Did not help.

The weirdest thing is that I installed OBS like a week ago and initially it was working JUST FINE, capturing Prepar3D and everything. But the next day it was like this. I didn't do anything. And I am completely lost in this strange behavior.

It may be relevant to mention that if I printscreen Prepar3D, it gives gray screen.

By the way, "Monitor capture" or simply a rectangle object work absolutely fine but that's not acceptable for me. You can see that here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated... I include all available log files.

I tried to reinstall OBS multiple times.

Thank you.
Tomas
