I have just setup OBS and am using in conjuction with EM28284 video capture. I have followed all the tuturials to setup USB drivers and OBS configuration.
When I start OBS the main screen capture window is all black. I have set the resolution to 720x576 and FPS to PAL 25. When I start the VCR I hear the audio fine, but screen capture window is black. If I select the video source, and propertiies in the properties dialog window I see the video fine !
When I record, it records in black (sound is fine). Can someone advise how I get the screen capture window configured to correct this ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Simon,

It's a very simple, but ennoying thing: most Laptops have two GPU's...on the first GPU is running Windows, and when you run OBS on the second (high rendering) GPU, it is impossible to see the screen that is displayed on the first one. You can change this in Windows graphic configuration, set OBS to the native GPU.

I was looking for years for a WORKAROUND... Nobody could help. Because OBS works much better on a stronger GPU, but you can never see the screen Scene! Windows cannot be switched in the BIOS of most laptops to work on the second GPU. And windows administrator from win 10 needs a lot of GPU, but impossible to switch it to GPU2.
And finally found an EXCELLENT WORKAROUND: You just need to install NDI TOOLS and install just the options you need, specifically "Screen Capture" or "Screen Capture HX", configure the few options (minimized, from the task bar) and in OBS you just add a NDI SOURCE... and DONE!

This tip will be an enormous help for all users who have a weak first GPU, or an overcharged GPU! In my first GPU I had quite always 100% of charge, and on my second GPU with this solution I come through with 22%-25% of use!

You're Wellcome!
