Question / Help Black Screen but still sound

I have been using OBS (Currently 0.13.2) for about a month and have had no issues in streaming or recording a lot of games from my steam account.

I am currently half way through a playthrough of Batman Arkham City and up until now I have had no issues. Today though, I have logged in and tried to continue my playthrough, but OBS will only record the sound from the program and doesn't even recognise that Batman is open in the dropdown list of open programs/windows. I have ran several other games as well to test whether they still work (as they have been streamed through this version of OBS by myself before) and they too do not work correctly. I tried Batman Arkham Asylum, as well a game called Legendary. Every time, the picture is a solid black screen but the games audio will be recorded by OBS.

I have checked my Nvidia driver and it is completely up to date. I ran virus scans as well as adwcleaner and JRT and my system appears to be clean. I am using Microsoft Windows 10 proffessional and I have an AMD FX 8350 with an Nvidia Geforce GTX 980. I also have 32gb of memory.

Please can you give me any advice as to why this problem has suddenly started happening, and how I can fix it? I am using OBS to stream games to my dad as he is unable to play them but still enjoys the stories and graphics. This is a pretty major roadblock that has stopped us from doing so.

I will attach one log from before the issue, and a number of logs from after the issue started.

Yes. Sorry I should have mentioned that. The first thing I tried was to run OBS 64 bit (as I use a 64 bit OS) as both admin and in compatibility mode for win 7. Neither fixed the issue, and OBS had been working fine up until today.

Gavin you really need one of the Devs to help out here, it might be worthwhile going on the chat, linked at the top of the site. I had a look at the logs and sometimes the hook for Game Capture fails like this:

19:08:00.627: [game-capture: 'Game Capture'] attempting to hook process: BatmanAC.exe
19:08:30.444: [game-capture: 'Game Capture'] attempting to hook process: ShellExperienceHost.exe
19:08:30.483: [game-capture: 'Game Capture'] using direct hook
19:08:34.483: [game-capture: 'Game Capture'] hook_direct: inject failed: -4

I downloaded the game and tried it and it works OK for me using Game Capture set for "Capture any Fullscreen application" on Windows 10 so it must be something specific to you, or more likely something specific to Windows 10 :-(

Also did you try the crashing workaround linked at the top of the forum, it's not the same symptoms as you but it might be worth just testing as it's an easy thing to try.
