Question / Help Black Preview screen

I'm having issues with OBS in that it's showing a black preview screen instead of the game/display/window,

I know this is a known issue with Laptops with NVIDIA GPUs and have already have set OBS to run with the Dedicated GPU and not the Integrated one however it is still having the same issue,

I have also run it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and Windows 8, as well as run as administrator to no avail. I have also followed a tutorial saying that if i allow full access to users for the drive that OBS is installed to that it will work but it also did not work.

I am running Windows 10 with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M any help would be appreciated, thank you.

To use display capture on a laptop with discrete and integrated GPUs, OBS must be run on the integrated GPU. You're running on the discrete.

Laptop? Black screen when capturing? Read here first.

Yes, it is. You can't do desktop capture that way. You need to run it on the Intel (integrated) to do desktop capture.
