Question / Help Bicubic much sharper than Lanczos, is this intentional?

When I record League of Legends with the Bicubic downscale filter it is noticeably sharper than when using Lanczos. This can easily be seen when comparing the HUD and minimap of the two recordings. Is Lanczos supposed to be sharper or is the softer, blurrier look intentional?

Open these two images and click back and forth between the tabs, notice the softer, blurrier look of the Lanczos picture? Compare the HUD and minimap at the bottom, the HUD icons are much more defined in the Bicubic picture.

I prefer Bicubic since I still think Lanczos is a bit too sharp for the games I stream.

Upon further research I believe this might be how Lanczos is supposed to look. In a still image Bicubic might look better but in motion Lanczos might be better. I'm still confused by the description of Lanczos in OBS as "sharpened scaling" as it seems to smooth the image, but I'm not an expert so "sharpened scaling" could mean something else. I also found this thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...scale-or-resize-and-whats-point-filtering.14/ Lanczos is labeled as "smooth" here which makes sense, so why does it say sharpened scaling in OBS?
