I've noticed that in my computer OBS performs slightly better capturing in 1366x768 instead of, let's say, 1280x720. By better I mean less thermal overheating both on cpu and gpu and noticeably somoother video result.
It's ok for me, of course, but I was surprised that at a lower resolution the load on the system was higher.
So, what is happening here? Is it because I'm capturing on my Windows desktop default/native resolution and that absolute lack of scaling is more benefitial in terms of performance than the power needed for different resolution decoding?
If you want to know, I capture using CPU x264. I have an nvidia gpu (less than basic, gtx 745), but it has a TERRIBLE thermal design, and nvenc capture makes things worse. CPU x264 in my i5 4th generation does it fine for me at 30fps.
Sorry for my english.
