Best way to downgrade?

OBS 29 will randomly freeze and crash my stream multiple times per stream. It's super annoying. What's the best way to downgrade back to 28? Is it as simple as just downloading and installing it over it? Or do I need to do some kind of clean uninstall first?

Edit to add - been using OBS since 2016 and the only problems I've really had were during major version number upgrades. In this case v28.x -> v29
I've had the same problem once before (v25->v26 ? maybe, not sure) and cannot remember how I resolved it.

Seems you are not of the ones who got troubles with 29v updates.

Before I've got the latest WinOS and OBS updates, my stream rig was perfect with xeon e5 v3 wich used medium preset with some x264 options. After updates my rig can't render anymore with medium preset, and streaming still possible with faster preset only!!!

Oldest 28.x (xeon e5v3) -> Medium
Latest 29 (xeon e5v3) -> Faster

... excellent updates.. mega updates :\

p.s. after downgrade problem not solved, so I thinking the problem with win32 updates or with prefetcher

This won't really help you but it may help others who haven't updated yet. Make a system image before doing anything else! I use Macrium Reflect (free version) and I have had to revert to previous versions of other programs in the past. And I'm really glad I did. It takes some amount of time to restore a system image but it's definitely worth it.

For what it's worth, I am still on 27.1.3 because it IS extremely stable for my purposes. When (or if?) I decide to update OBS you can bet I'll make an image first.
