Hello everyone,
First off, thanks to the community — I found this old but super helpful thread from 2020 where someone with a similar setup (i7-6700T + integrated graphics) got great results with x264 ultrafast + CRF 19 for 1080p60 recording with almost no lag.
My PC is a bit newer/stronger:
I'm trying to record at 720p60 or 1080p30/60 for YouTube/TikTok, using Game Capture. The game runs smooth at 60+ FPS normally, but when recording in OBS I get encoding lag and the output drops to ~27 FPS in heavy scenes (fast movement, particles, etc.). Stats show skipped frames due to encoding lag.
What I've tried so far (all in Advanced mode, Recording tab):
Other tweaks:
Logs aren't super helpful (no crashes, just lag), but I can upload one if needed.
My goal: Smooth 60 FPS recording output with decent quality (720p60 preferred, or 1080p30 if needed), minimal impact on game performance.
Has anyone with i7-8xxx + UHD 630 found a "magic" setting for Quick Sync in 2025/2026? Or is x264 ultrafast still the way to go? Any custom parameters for Quick Sync (like Async Depth, etc.) that help with lag?
Thanks a lot in advance for any advice — really appreciate it!

My PC is a bit newer/stronger:
- CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 @ 3.20GHz (6 cores/12 threads)
- GPU: Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 (no dedicated card)
- RAM: 16 GB
- OS: Windows 11 Pro
- OBS: Latest version (32.0.4 or whatever is current in 2026)
I'm trying to record at 720p60 or 1080p30/60 for YouTube/TikTok, using Game Capture.
- Quick Sync H.264(preferred because it offloads from CPU):
- ICQ 22–25
- Target Usage: TU5 Rápido → TU6 Más rápido → TU7 El más rápido
- B-Frames: 0 (to reduce load)
- Profile: high
- Keyframe: 2s
- Latency: normal
- Canvas: 1920x1080, Output scaled to 1280x720, Bicubic downscale, 60 FPS→ Still drops in heavy parts, better with TU7 but quality gets blocky.
- x264(as suggested in the old thread):
- Preset: ultrafast
- CRF: 19–22
- Profile: main
- Tune: none→ Similar results: some improvement but still occasional encoding lag/drops.
Other tweaks:
- Process priority: High
- Renderer: Direct3D 11
- Color Format: NV12
- No overlays/facecam, only Game Capture
- Closed background apps, ran OBS as admin
