Question / Help Best settings for Mac Catalina?

I've been messing about for ages with various settings for OBS on my Macbook Pro 2019 that's running Catalina. I've attached the log files from the best output that I've found so far, but it looks about 720p quality. I've tried looking at settings on a Windows laptop and have managed 1080p quality easily on that... seems strange that it's so difficult to achieve the same on a Mac!

Also, I've tried auto configuration and Simple Output Mode with various bitrates, but they looked terrible.

Any ideas? TIA

OBS will run much better on the same hardware in Windows than on MacOS.

Because of current changes being made to MacOS by Apple, the technologies OBS has depended on in the past are being deprecated, and features are being lost.

Compared to similarly priced Windows laptops, MacBooks (even Pros) have anemic GPUs, and this is the most critical hardware for OBS.

In addition, certain features of those GPUs (especially Nvidia GPUs) are unavailable to OBS when running on MacOS because Nvidia has not written the necessary software to support those features. (Not an issue for MacBooks, of course, because no modern MacBook features an Nvidia GPU). In your case, your laptop features ONLY Intel graphics-- no discrete GPU at all, and a low speed CPU.

OBS still runs in Catalina, but it is less performant, less featured, and for some users, less reliable, than on Windows, even on the same hardware.

I would not attempt 1080p60 on this hardware, and certainly not under MacOS. I would choose between targeting 720p60 or 1080p30, or possibly even 720p30.
