I like to stream and record my stream to my hard drive at the same time. Of the two encoders (x264 and NVENC H.264), which is the best combination to use for streaming and recording? I have been using x264 for streaming and then recording with NVENC to offload some of the work from the CPU.

If you have a Maxwell or Pascal Nvidia GPU (GTX 9xx, GTX 10xx) you can use NVENC to get similar quality as x264 veryfast with next to no CPU cost. If you have CPU to spare while streaming you can also switch the streaming encoder to x264 for slightly better stream quality for a mediocre impact on CPU.
