Beginner question - defining screen areas

It seems all I can find for recording an area of the screen are 3 options - Display, Window or Application capture.

I was wondering if there is a way to manually define a specific region to record (the same way taking a MacOS screenshot acts).

The work around would be to record the larger undefined item - and then crop it in post, but that seems like a lot of extra effort for something so basic. Am I missing something?

The attached screenshot shows a theoretical example - say I wanted to record ONLY the video area of something - and not see my menu bar, advertising or other text areas.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply - I figured it out now with this hint By repositioning and resizing with the move tool and red crop tool, one can zoom/resize to exclude the unwanted areas beyond the edges of the capture window frame. = Region selection before recording! :-)
