Beginner Help

I have old mimi DV player (Canon Elura 100) which I want to get tapes converted to Digital.
I am working on a Windows 8.1 PC which I have recently installed a firewire card and bought a firewire cable.
I have watched many youtube videos etc and is how I learned about OBS. IT all seems like plug firewire from Camera to PC (Firewire card)...and open OBS and add a source and then when you play it should work. However, I can't get it to work.
When I add a SOURCE to OBS... it lets me select a source (Microsoft DV Camera and VRC)...but when I click on "Configure Video" or "Configure Crossbar" it never opens a window to make changes. When I press play on camcorder....I never get video or audio in OBS.
I kept searching and found some had issue with firewire drivers... so I used this video (time_continue=217&v=CEcS4jGuGaI&feature=emb_logo) to update to 2013 firewire drivers (they were 2006). I rebooted the PC, etc but still can't get video to play/record on PC.
I am a beginner on a lot of this....so please be kind if I am doing something stupid. I feel like I am racing against time to get these home video (my kids) converted to digital before technology changes too much.
Any advice on testing, getting OBS to work with my setup, or advice in general on converting old Mini DV tapes....would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed an older version of OBS hoping that might help. No success.
Anyone have any ideas with this?

These seem like issues...but can't find solutions. I can select video as source...but it will not allow me to configure, etc.

Remove all your video capture device sources in all scenes. Add back one single source. If you have multiple capture device sources for the same device, they stomp on each other. Only one source is possible per device. If you need multiple sources of the same device, for example if you want it in multiple scenes, add additional sources of the same device with the "add existing" option, not with the "add new" option.
