Question / Help Basic OBS studio problems Desktop Audio/Video Recording

Hey guys I've recently downloaded OBS studio it looks like it has lots of portential but I am having problems and can't find solution anywhere.

So first as soon as I opened it I couldn't even record my desktop, after searching a bit in the settings i changed the render engine to OpenGL and I can finally get a video record but it has no audio. I have the selected audio output/inputs right because when I play music on te background or speak in my microphone the green bars at the bottom move, yet no sound is being recorded at all. Any help would be apreciated.

Watch your recorded video with VLC. If your using Windows Media Player it can't handle the audio codec without proper codecs installed.

See if that is your problem first.

Can you just tell me one more thing? Why when I use the render engine Direct3D etc etc it doesn't record my desktop? (it records windows like firefox but no desktop)
