Question / Help Basic GUI problems

Hi: new OBS user with two very basic GUI problems.

1. When I start the app, the window flashes up and then immediately reduces to the taskbar icon. When I click the icon, my window appears. If I try to click or right click on the taskbar icon, the window disappears. Another click or right click, and it appears. Also, when I click on the dock icon, the little dropdown menu appears briefly and then disappears immediately--too quickly to even read the options. This happens sometimes just with click, sometimes both click and right-click--and either 1. only when the window has been visible and is about to hide and not vice-versa or 2. only when the window has been hidden and is about to become visible and not vice-versa. (I can't figure out the pattern)

2. More importantly: the various sub-windows at the bottom: mixer, scenes, etc. have all decoupled from the main window after simply moving the mouse over them. A couple have recoupled with the main window but now in tandem with other sub-windows so that I have to toggle back and forth. How do I get them back to how they were at first? (all in little sections of the main window, side-by-side) Also, how do I stop them from decoupling when I mouse over in the wrong spot?

If anyone has any advice on these, please help! I don't know if these are just bugs or just user ineptitude.

Thanks,
e

You have likely inadvertently activated a feature in the General pane of the Settings menu called

"Minimize to System Tray when started".

Click the OBS icon in the menubar at the top of the screen to get your window back.

Go to Settings > General and uncheck "Minimize to System Tray when started".

Restart OBS.

To return the rest of your GUI to default, use the View menu, choose the Docks submenu and choose the item "Reset UI"
