Bad Quality Even After Changing Settings

I have spent hours doing all kinds of research, from YouTube videos about the best OBS settings, to looking up specific issues I'm having, to restarting my computer, to even reinstalling OBS. I have probably changed every setting in OBS at least once across countless attempts, and I have tried way too many different combinations of settings. Yet, no matter what I do or change, literally nothing changes about the quality of the video. It doesn't get better when I raise settings, and it doesn't get worse when I lower the settings, this is with the exception of the FPS.

Regardless of whether I encode from x264 or from NVENC, it produces the same, good but not great quality. Might I also add that for the last test which is in the log below, I was recording in basically the highest possible quality for OBS in terms of NVENC, still nothing.

Now for some specifications, my PC is pretty high-tier, which is why this video quality is concerning. To be specific:
CPU: Intel i7 13700k
RAM: 32.00GB
GPU: RTX 3080
OS: Windows 11 Home (I hope this is not the problem)
Monitor: Asus Tuf Gaming QHD 144Hz
SSD: 2TB Samsung 980 EVO

Start by creating a new Profile to get back to a clean state. It will ask you if you want to run the config wizard - choose yes, select to optimize for recording, leave the other settings as-is and finish. You should end up with good settings for high quality local recordings. Make sure to view the output videos in VLC or another media player that plays them properly.

If you want even higher quality at the expense of bigger files, set it to "indistinguishable quality" in Settings / Output.

I just tried this, but it changed absolutely nothing. The exact same quality difference in the image I sent above is still happening...

If you're not running your OBS canvas at the same resolution as your game then you will lose some quality due to upscaling / downscaling. Make sure they match.

No lagged frames, but Preset P6 will increase throughput with no difference in quality so if you notice any encoding lag use it.

Also try VBR rate control. I've been using it since I upgraded to OBS 28.x.x with really nice results.

I believe I know what's the problem you have. Downscale Filter is ON and needs to be OFF. It is ON because the aspect ratio of the Base Resolution is different than the aspect ration of the Output Resolution (even though they are set to the same resolution you are choosing which is 2560x1440). One way to get around this is to set (both Base Resolution and Output Resolution, of course) to 1280x720, and the Downscale Filter should go OFF, automatically).

^^ FYI, the downscale filter that is set on the video tab shows up in the log regardless of being on or off. If Base/Canvas match new versions of OBS automatically disable it.

I made sure I was. I also tried changing my settings in game to lower resolution and the OBS settings to the same, lower resolution and that did not help.

I tried with downscale on and downscale off, as I stated in the first message, absolutely nothing changed for better or for worse even when I changed it to 480p.

Just tried this and once again absolutely nothing changed. I may have figured out something though, whenever I change my resolution, the screen in OBS gets smaller or bigger depending on the resolution I change it to. Maybe increasing resolution for me does not increase the quality but instead the size? I don't know too much about pc's and coding and how everything works so that may be a stupid suggestion but just in case it helps I added it.

As far as I'm concerned Norton is a virus. Do what you want with it.

Windows Sound Control Panel to adjust sample rates, you need to drill into the device & go to the advanced tab. While you're in there disable all enhancements.

Create new Scenes to add additional Game Captures, only 1 per Scene.

Just changing the Preset won't do shit to make it look better.

Sounds like you may be Scaling your monitor. While you're in the Graphics Settings, make sure it's set @ 100%

Hey I am sorry If I am bugging you. I've noticed that if I resize the source window (in the preview dock on the OBS homescreen) (by pulling the red borders), image gets blurry. The only time the image is clear is when I right click on the source>Transform> Reset Transfrom.

what if you do transform>fullscreen? Maybe this is the issue with mine as well.

I just disabled hags, no change occurred.

Norton is an anti virus, not a virus and I believe it is automatically installed when you install windows.

I am not at all concerned about the volume yet, I must work on the graphics first.

How would adding new scenes affect the graphics?

I am not sure what you mean by just changing the preset, but as I stated, I tried changing every setting, and I practically changed and tried every single combination of settings and nothing changed.

Wrong question, but having multiple game captures in the same Scene is known to cause interference.

Have you fixed this yet? I have been having issues with this aswell,although one thing that I noticed is that the recording in windows 10 is fine but when I'm recording in windows 11 the videos turn out blurry no matter what settings I apply in OBS. I'm not too sure but it may be a windows 11 issue.
