Bad Audio Quality

When I start a recording, the audio quality is good as long as I'm only making an audio recording without background music or anything similar. However, as soon as I have something running in the background (e.g., a YouTube video) while the background music is playing through headphones and not the speakers, the audio recording through the microphone becomes worse and choppy. What could be the reason for this?

Do you have a Noise Suppressor? Either as a filter in OBS or somewhere else? Maybe in Windows' own audio processing? (turn all of that off!)

Noise Suppressors are designed for spoken voice only, like in an acoustically terrible conference room, lobby, living room, something like that. Anything other than spoken voice specifically, is considered as noise to be removed.

If that common guess for your described symptoms doesn't work, I think I need a recording. Different problems sound different.

A logfile would be good too, of the same session that produced that recording.
