background removal

hello, i have downloaded the obs background removal tool and watched videos of how to do it.. however, the video shows that it comes up for the audio/video filter but mine keeps going into effect filter and i cant seem to get it sorted. can anybody give any advice or help please? i stream via obs on twitch so it would be amazing if i could have a fluid camera filter without my background

Whatever video guide you watched, the filter actually appears as effect filter in every single tutorial I find about that filter. For me it just works as soon as I add it to my webcam source without any additional configuration. If it isn't working for you, you could ask for help in the plugin's forum thread. May be changing the lighting will give an immediate change.

You probably found the only video still around from ancient times with ancient OBS and ancient plugin where the plugin was different than to what it is today.

I encourage you to watch such guides with some grain. Learn what those video guides show in general, but don't try to painfully click exactly what the presenters click, because programs and user interfaces will change over time.

This video is 5 minutes long to tell this very simple information: "To remove the background from your webcam image, install the "background removal" plugin from <url> and use the filter it will install with your webcam source."

I got mine working, I have ancient i7. This might help you. Within that plugin's settings, if you click Advanced settings check box, more options will appear. Under Inference device select CPU. That should work for you.
