My Avermedia U3 works fine on OBS Studio but it has the exact same problems as I had on OBS Classic as well with crackling audio under DirectSound Only.

WaveOut is a temporary fix but the problem with OBS Studio compared to OBS Classic is when I set my capture card to DirectSound in OBS Classic, I have crackling audio but I also have full control over the volume settings of my capture card. On WaveOut on OBS Classic when I turn down my audio it turns down all audio at the same time including desktop audio.

On OBS Studio when you select DirectSound or WaveOut you lose all volume control with the capture card. I would like to hear my capture card but I would also like to be able to control it's volume. Fixing the crackling audio under DirectSound would be a big help as well :D.

The video above demonstrates my issue, shows my options and explains what's going on. I can't be the only one that's requested separate audio control in the mixer for my capture card while being able to hear it through my desktop. :P

A simple way to fix it would be to fix the DirectSound crackling audio. Then once I set my capture card to DirectSound I would still have my own volume adjustment for the Avermedia U3, but the volume indicator would still flash under Desktop Audio. Then I just adjust the Avermedia U3's volume slider and it adjusts it's volume under Desktop Audio as well. Simple :D

Bumpity bump. The last time I made a topic about this it went unanswered. I'd rather not be forgotten among the topics. If you have any ideas at all I'd like to hear it please <3

I get the same scratchy sound with Audio Output Mode set to DirectSound with my AverMedia C027, and no sound is captured when output mode set to "DirectSound" or "WaveOut".

I wonder why outputting audio to desktop disables audio capture for stream/record? The only way to capture audio and output audio to speakers without capturing desktop audio is to enable "Use custom audio device", then using GraphStudioNext, VB-Audio virtual cable, and lots of setups. In GraphStudioNext "Play" menu, uncheck "Use Clock" may help prevent scratchy audio. Very messy and complicated but at least this works.

I found an easier workaround for now. Use AmarecTV's "Live" feature with the 32 bit version of OBS Studio. I can adjust the audio on it by hand and it works great :D
