So im using this small and awesome piece of hardware, and the thing is that when i use the software that comes with the card the "RECentral" i just get to choose the bitrate and resolution, the the card is ready to capture and encode my gameplay. The result is awesome. I get really good picture, no lag, no frameloss, lwo latency and no real impact on my system.
But now i want to use OBS so i can make settings for my microphone and maby add webcam and other stuff. Problem now is that i have to use another encoder, either the x264 or NVENC.... And here is where i get performance hit, and quality hit and latency destroyed.
With x264 i cant really go high, at around 4k it starts hitting my system, and with NVENC ofc it is better but it still makes a performance hit. And this is another issue. When using shadowplay i get no big performance hit, but when using NVENC in OBS it does get more choppy and im getting higher latency. The settings i can do (high quality low latency etc) dont help with my performance hit.
So basically what i want to know is: Are there any optimal settings for using a capture card? Is there a way to utilize the hardware encoder in OBS or am i stuck with RECentral? And why do i get bad results with NVENC in OBS? (I tried different settings) In shadowplay i can go with 60k and its fluid, in OBS its a disaster after 20k.
