AV to USB2.0 issues

hi, I'm using a HandyCam to digitize old videos and everything was going smoothly yesterday. But today I can't get the videos to play correctly. the video stops in the program but audio continues. It will play the video for a few minutes but after that.. the screen is stuck in the program but I can still see the video in the camcorder going on as if nothing is happening. I haven't changed any settings since yesterday and this happens on every tape i've tried. Anyone have any clues? i've restarted my computer (Windows 11 btw) and it's still doing it. I need help!

Part of why you might not have gotten a response
- starting post on a weekend
- ignoring pinned post in this forum regarding post OBS Studio log from session with the problem.

And realize that an OBS Studio log will not tell anyone if you are running something in the background on your computer causing a bottleneck. It is your responsibility to do real-time hardware resource utilization monitoring
And an application, operating system, or driver update can change behavior from one day to the next.

Oh, and more importantly... USB2.0 is rather low on bandwidth, and USB hubs or similar can cause even further degradation. USB2.0 should only be used for lower resolution content (sorry, I don't know what old video resolution would be ok, and what wouldn't be)... some USB2.0 video capture devices compress video to make sure video fits in available bandwidth...
