Auto-configuration wizard demands streaming key

When I first tried OBS, the Auto-confiuration wizard popped up. I told it I only wanted to capture screens, but it insisted I supply a stream key anyhow. Rather than create a bogus streaming account to get a key just to get past the wizard, I gave up on OBS for a while. I came back to OBS only when I failed to get Windows Game Bar to work properly. OBS is a good tool, don't let the wizard dissuade new users.

The wizard asks for the key only if you tell it you want to optimize for streaming, so it is able to test the streaming service network connectivity. It doesn't ask if you tell if you only want to record or want to use the virtual webcam. It's also possible to just cancel the wizard and do the settings manually. So it's not clear what makes you think the wizard forces you to enter anything you don't have and don't need.

Maybe because it comes up automatically on the first run, and the OP doesn't see the Close and Cancel buttons?

Also, if they just blindly click through and don't read to understand, all bets are off.

If OBS were a simple "launch and use" thing, then only a handful of people would ever find it useful. The reason it's popular enough for you to find it in the first place, is because it serves a wide variety of unique applications, which also means it must be configurable to suit each one. If you get hung up on the configuration, are you really qualified to stream at all? (without a separate tech person to do it for you)

The wizard does an awesome job of hiding the gory details - if you pay attention and give it the right information: "garbage in, garbage out" - but if you get hung up on *anything at all* beyond "push button, get stream"......well......see the previous paragraph.
