Question / Help Audio Yes, Video No

Hello all,


i havent used OBS in a while, last time i was it wasnt Studio, last time i was using OBS it was all working perfect, but for some reason i cant get any Video feed at all for Game Capture, im probably missing something basic as im new to Studio and its been a long time since ive used OBS.

any help would be appreciated,

Looks like you have 2 game captures. Is one of them (or even both) set to capture any full screen item? If so, explicitly set both game captures to their respective games.

Also looks like you have only 1 monitor. Remember that if you run a game fullscreen and then alt-tab out, the game stops rendering and will only show black in OBS.

Yes, when 1 game wasnt working i figured id try another to see if it was just the game i was attempting to record or if it was a setting ive missed in OBS, both games recorded audio only but no video at all.

and yes i alt tabbed to click the start/stop recording as i hadnt set hotkeys for it yet.


Also, in the advanced settings section, there is no option for video adapter ? shouldnt that be my GPU ?

some PC games are deliberately set to administrator mode to work, have you tried settings OBS studio to the same administrator mode ?

if you still see a black screen, try selecting right click menu -> transform -> fit to screen.

I had the same problem with the witcher 3 last night, i had witcher 3 in admin mode (& OBS studio in admin mode too), i was still seeing a black screen, right clicked on transform - and then fit to screen, the game appeared again.

I've got the games and OBS running in admin mode yes, will have to try the fit to screen when I get home from collage today, will post an update when I can!

As to Diablo 2, does that game use OpenGL or DirectX9+? I don't think so. That game is so old it has glide support (which OBS can't capture), and a software renderer. I recall someone who was going to try a mod for the game that made the game render in OpenGL... which if that worked should make D2 capturable.

As to Sacred, I don't know anything about the game besides that it came out in 2004, which might mean it suffers from the same base issue(s) as D2.

If that's the case you might have to run it in Windowed mode and use Window or Display capture.
