Question / Help Audio Tracks Not Displaying Or Playing

I have recorded gameplay with seperate Audio tracks using OBS Studio. When I watch the gameplay in my Media player everything is just fine. When I open/drop the video into my editor ( Sony Movie Studio) It only puts the video into the editor without the audio tracks. No noise, No tracks. Only video. Dont know where to find the tracks at.

Usually the problem with a video editor not finding the audio tracks is that it doesn't support that Codec. OBS uses standard codecs for audio and so in theory all players and editors should be able to open the tracks however that's not the case. Sony Vegas had a problem exactly as you describe which was fixed by an update so I would check that you are running the latest version of Movie Studio and have all patches applied.

If this still doesn't work then you can try to separate out the audio tracks from the video, demuxing. You can use VLC to do this there are many examples of how to do it but you'll need to experiment to find a format that works with Sony Movie Studio

Thanks for the earlier replies chaps.

OK, there was an update for Sony Movie Studio 12 Platinum, now fully up to date.

I had a play with OBS Studio (0.13.1) 64 bit and captured some FSX for a few seconds (as Admin).

None of the log attached means much to me, but if anyone can help, I would really be grateful.

I know the 60 fps is hopeful, just wanted to try it and see if it works to be honest, I usually record at 1280x720 30 fps.

Steve this is not really an OBS problem and so the log isn't going to help us out at all :-( I assume you are still seeing the same problem in Movie Studio even with the updates? In that case your only option is to strip the audio channels out of the video file using one of the methods we have suggested and import them back into Movie Studio. I did a video ages back on how to do this with VLC, you can find that here:

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the reply, appreciate your time.

I'm confused though by one line (well all actually, but the one I noticed)

18:12:06.898: Loading module: coreaudio-encoder.dll
18:12:06.899: [CoreAudio encoder]: Failed loading library 'CoreAudioToolbox.dll'
18:12:06.899: [CoreAudio encoder]: Couldn't load CoreAudio AAC encoder

This, in my mind at least, flags up some kind of issue with the AAC encoder, has this been updated with the latest version of OBS Studio?

It worked brilliantly until I recently updated to the new version. I have un-installed the current version and gone back to 0.13.1 64 bit but still have problems. Do I maybe need to delete a codec / file from somewhere and then re-install OBS again to have it install the previously working version(s)?

I have sound on all channels when viewing in Windows 10 movie player, just not when importing to Movie Studio.

Hope that makes sense,
Steve

18:12:08.553: AAC encoder bitrate mapping:
18:12:08.553: 32 kbit/s: 'FFmpeg Default AAC Encoder' (ffmpeg_aac)
18:12:08.553: 64 kbit/s: 'FFmpeg Default AAC Encoder' (ffmpeg_aac)
18:12:08.553: 96 kbit/s: 'Media Foundation AAC Encoder' (mf_aac)
18:12:08.553: 128 kbit/s: 'Media Foundation AAC Encoder' (mf_aac)
18:12:08.553: 160 kbit/s: 'Media Foundation AAC Encoder' (mf_aac)
18:12:08.553: 192 kbit/s: 'Media Foundation AAC Encoder' (mf_aac)
18:12:08.553: 224 kbit/s: 'FFmpeg Default AAC Encoder' (ffmpeg_aac)
18:12:08.553: 256 kbit/s: 'FFmpeg Default AAC Encoder' (ffmpeg_aac)
18:12:08.553: 288 kbit/s: 'FFmpeg Default AAC Encoder' (ffmpeg_aac)
18:12:08.553: 320 kbit/s: 'FFmpeg Default AAC Encoder' (ffmpeg_aac)

The coreaudio thing isn't actually a real problem.

The problem you're having is with Movie Studio not with OBS at this point since the audio tracks are indeed included in the video.

OK, well thanks for the response, just wanted to ask to resolve it in my mind.

I've posted this question to Sony support as well, so hopefully, can find a solution to the problem.

Thanks chaps for the responses.

ok. have been doing some playing around this morning, I believe there is something with OBS Studio.

I downloaded OBS Classic current version earlier, recorded 10 secs or so from FSX, had audio and video. Re-installed OBS Studio 0.13.1, recorded 10 secs, no audio?

I've attached the log files from OBS Classic session and also from OBS Studio for your review.

I take note of all the comments above, but this seems (in my limited understanding) to possibly offer something else for people with a lot more knowledge of OBS to look at?

Regards
Steve
