Audio sync issues

I am running HDMI out of a camera into a laptop using the Elgato camlink 4k. The HDMI is the only input for audio and video.

When I record, the audio starts recording about 10 seconds before I actually hit record, and audio recording ends about 10 seconds before I press stop recording. And the audio is out of sync, about the same 10 seconds ahead of the video.

I can't make any sense of it. Any info would be awesome, thanks.

Have you (or someone else) been playing with this?:

It'll go that far out - 10000ms as you report - but if something *needs* that much, there's probably something else wrong.

There's also a delay filter for the picture, that'll go that far too:

If you're watching after that filter to hit the record button, and the audio is not similarly delayed, then that could do it too.

Per the forum pinned post, please post an OBS log from a Recording (and/or Streaming) session of sufficient length (more than 20 seconds)
Things like inadequate processing power (or other hardware resources) for a given setup, or plugins/audio filter/effects, can cause unintended/expected results.

Have you plugged the camera HDMI cable into a TV and confirmed audio/video in sync coming out of camera? (most likely, but assumptions get us all into trouble, so start with the basics)
With OBS not running, can you view HDMI capture on same computer using Operating System and/or Elgato native apps to confirm sync?

OP did you ever solve this? I am seeing the same problem. About 16 seconds of delay is recorded from my Cam link audio BEFORE I press record in OBS, and it's of course 16s behind for the rest of the video. It's the weirded thing. This is a clean install of OBS, version 31.3.3, Cam Link 4K (newer mk 2), Sony A7iV.
