Question / Help Audio Speed not the same as Video Speed

Hi all, I record my audio separately from my video because of post-production work in Camtasia. The video runs slower than the audio. Does anyone know what causes the video to record slower than the separate audio track?

I may have to mention that the same process using an external camera does not cause this issue. It's only when I use my c920 directly into OBS. Maybe a video setting is off?

Thanks for your help!

Possibly, the frame rate is not the same for the both files. How you record this audio track?

The audio track seems to record accurately. I use the OBS system to record and at the same time record using Audacity. These two files end up identical in speed so all is fine there. However, even if I just look at the OBS recording, the video portion is a tad bit slower so every 3-4 seconds I have to cut the video and audio and move the audio portion slightly to the right to match up with my mouth again. I tried separating the video from the audio in Camtasia and speeding up the video portion to 101 or 102% but that doesn't seem to match it up either. I must have done something to record and render unqually but I don't where that setting is anymore.

Those aren't your audio settings ^ . Regardless, I would suggest making sure the sample rate for the project in Audacity and OBS studio are the same (i.e 48khz). In OBS this can be set in the main audio tab, in Audacity you'll find that in the lower left as well as in edit > preferences > quality.

If that doesn't help, maybe experiment with using the "change speed..." effect in audacity, making slight adjustments until you work out which value keeps audio in sync.

Thanks, Waistless. I just reset some of the audio settings and managed to get the audio at the same speed as the video, but now the quality of the video is terrible (not as sharp as it was before).

I have tried and I can't get it to work properly. I even installed OBS on another laptop and left the settings "as is" and it's still lagging behind just a fraction. Every 4 seconds I have to cut the audio and move it over a tad bit, which is a lot of work for the final product but it also sounds weird in the final product.

I just realized that OBS allows me to choose 32-bit or 64-bit. I have a 64-bit computer, Windows 7. It won't allow me to choose that option, saying that MSVCP120.dll is missing. I uninstalled and reinstalled OBS three times but it's still saying the same. So I installed OBS on my other computer, Windows 10, also 64 bit, and it's letting me choose OBS 64-bit fine. However, it's still lagging behind with the base settings. :-(

The issue is clearly not in the audio but in the speed at which the video is being played, there is a tiny lag, which I can see even if I just watch myself talk on screen. My movements are ever so slightly delayed. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks for all your help by the way, I really appreciate it!

Ah, so there's specifically a delay between your mic audio and the captured video from the camera? Is there no such issues with game video and audio?

If not, it could be that there's a delay in the camera itself, or in OBS's interaction with it. A video demonstrating the issue would be greatly helpful, too!

Almost all industry do sound in post production. Try to change the software you are using or your vision of the editing.
