Audio sounds awful during streaming and also only after uploading videos

So this is the most frustrating thing ever. Listen here to hear how awful it is. Basically it sounds almost muffled, like underwater, but also super heavy low tones that rumble and break and are extremely unpleasant to listen to. This has been a thing for years. I used streamlabs OBS 3 years ago with this same problem, and now just use obs and still have the same problem. I feel pretty confident saying I don't think it's an OBS problem, but I still can't figure out what the actual issue is.

Here's what's really confusing. I can record videos locally and they sound just fine, even converted from mkv to mp4. But as soon as I upload them (to youtube in this case), even waiting for them to playback in HD rather than SD, the garbled audio comes back. You can tell in my video I linked above that there's basically no difference with the audio, cuz it was a very unsuccessful comparison video after it uploaded.

I have uninstalled OBS and removed all user settings and any files that could have been left behind. Reinstalling and streaming with a clean slate didn't fix this problem, unfortunately, which is why I think it's a problem with something else, like windows, or... I guess possibly audio drivers? I use a logitech pro x wireless for headphones/mic.

So to summarize:
  • Streaming audio is terrible quality sound
  • Recording video locally and playing it locally sounds fine
  • Uploading the same video to youtube makes it sound awful
  • This issue is not caused by OBS but affects my use of it
I'd appreciate any help with this. I just wanna stream and not give people headaches as a gift for watching me.
