Audio Scene

I have an MP4 audio clip attached to a scene in OBS (Mac version). when I engage the clip I can clearly see that the clip is playing in the audio meter but I am not able to hear it nor stream it. I'm obviously new to OBS but I thought this seemed rather straightforward.
Any help will be appreciated.
