Audio Recording Issue

Hi folks,
This is my first post here. I did search the forum to see if there were any other postings related to this but came up blank.

I'm using a Neumann U87ai with the Neumann MT48 interface.
I just can't seem to get any audio in OBS using the MT48.
If I select the microphone on my webcam, it works seamlessly, but I need to get the audio from my U87ai.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
I've tried changing the settings in OBS but alas no joy.

Thanks in advance!

From a quick google search (most of us have no idea what <random name> is), that looks like a multichannel audio interface. OBS hates those.

OBS came from a stereotypical bedroom gamer/streamer, who has a USB or built-in-soundcard mic, and a surround-sound game, and that's pretty much it for sound. He's supposed to select which device to use for his mic, and which device to use for the game sound. Anything beyond that confuses him. No channel selection, because it's an entire device for each. Multi-channel devices are thus assumed to be surround-sound, with no option to change that, and downmixed to mono or stereo depending on OBS's global setting.

If your mic just happens to be on the interface's channel 4, which is where a surround mix has the subwoofer, then it does disappear entirely:

Generally, all of the stereo pairs - front corners, sides, rear corners, etc. - are mixed at different levels into a single stereo pair, the center channel goes to both sides, and the sub just goes away.

The solution is to not use multichannel interfaces with OBS. Period. If you must use that interface, run it to a different app that does pick out a specific channel, and then go from that app to OBS.
