Question / Help Audio quality bad when using mp4 format

So i decided to switch from mkv to mp4 format recording, because my edit software doesnt support mkv. I've had no issues whatsoever with my audio when using mkv. When switched to mp4, the audio of the video sounded compressed or sth. It sounded way worse. I'm recording 48khz sample rate Stereo, with 256 bitrate.

The exact same video / audio codecs are used, only the container is different so this is likely a playback / editor issue.
