Hi everyone,
I’m having a strange audio issue with OBS and I hope someone can help or give me some advice.
My setup is as follows:
I have a Shure SM7B microphone connected directly to my Pioneer DJM-V10 mixer. From the REC OUT of the mixer, I’m using an RCA to jack cable going into my Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 MK4 audio interface. From the Focusrite, I use a USB-C cable into my MacBook, and that is how the audio comes into OBS.
The problem is that my microphone sounds clear in OBS when I talk, but when I play music from my CDJ-3000 players, the music sounds like some kind of noise cancellation is being applied. The best way to describe it is like someone talking hands-free in a car with a very weak GSM or Bluetooth connection, where the sound cuts out or becomes very unclear. Sometimes it sounds like you can only hear parts of the music, or like the audio is being suppressed.
The strange thing is that my microphone sounds fine in OBS. I have not installed any filters in OBS. Everything is basically set up as standard. The only thing I changed was setting the sample rate to 48 kHz in both OBS and the Focusrite interface.
Another strange thing is that when I record with QuickTime Player, everything sounds perfect. The music and microphone both sound normal there. So I don’t think the problem is with my Focusrite interface, because then I would expect to have the same issue in QuickTime Player.
I have already tried a lot of things. I even completely removed OBS and installed it again, but the problem is still there. Maybe I’m missing a setting somewhere, but I can’t find it.
Does anyone know what could cause this in OBS? Could there be some audio processing, input mode, macOS setting, or OBS setting that I’m overlooking?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
