Audio overwrites

New to OBS and getting a strange artifact when playing back captured video and audio. The audio sounds (voice recordings) repeat themselves with about a 2-3 second delay but the video continues to play on. So repeated words play over and in addition to new words. Any idea what might be causing this?
 
By default OBS enables 2 global audio devices for capturing - Desktop Audio and Mic. Maybe mic capturing what is played back by speakers? Try to disable the one you don't need.
Main menu File > Settings > Audio > Global Audio Devices group.
