heyo,
been loving OBS studio for months now and with recent editions there's really only one thing that keeps me from having to occasionally fall back to old OBS.
In a recent update Audio output mode was added for capture cards so that like old obs you could have the audio play to your default audio device in windows and hear it while also capturing for stream. This was a fantastic add and works great for my crappy usb 2.0 capture card for N64 dreamcast etc. BUT
one of the cooler things in OBS studio was the addition of the Black magic API as a device. I'm one of the few who loves my little black magic shuttle usb 3.0 thing and sadly the addition of the audio output mode wasn't added to that capture device code/section/whatever.
In addition to that while I was hoping i could just use the video capture device section and pick my black magic card (which does work fantastically) it still doesn't have the option old OBS had about polling for the audio device. The black magic cards have a WDM and a decklink audio capture...thing. (honestly sorry I'm not well versed so i'm guessing based on experience). the Decklink option has to be used otherwise the audio is a bag of chopzilla and scratchyness. Old OBS could select it and the new obs just has the recently added option of where to send the audio to not where to get it from.
SO... I held off on writing this cause i'm sort of asking for 1 of 2 hardish to explain things. In a dream world i'd love for the BM api input section to have the option to select Decklink audio AND have the little nifty audio output mode selection part added.
OR
just add a section inside the generic capture device section for choosing where the audio is coming from so i can pick the "decklink" option.
Again sorry if any of this is either rude or just plain wrong, hell I've been streaming with this stuff for over two years and still I have no idea/haven't taken the time to even look up what the hell decklink means.
ANYWHO thanks for all the hard work ya'll do. I mainly wrote this up in case this stuff is just something you guys weren't aware of. No rush. You make the world better by your existence. <3
