Hi all,
I've been streaming for about 2 years and using my current set up for almost a year. In the last week however the audio monitoring feature seems to have completely killed itself. I have changed no settings or performed any updates. I just loaded OBS like normal one day and couldn't hear my monitored source.
I monitor a single browser source (stream alerts) through OBS, the monitoring device in advanced audio settings is "Speakers/Headphones (Realtek(R) Audio)". My desktop audio is "VoiceMeeter Input (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO)". Everything I want to hear while streaming goes through VoiceMeeter Banana, only the alerts browser source is being monitored by OBS itself, otherwise I cannot hear it.
I figured I'd try changing the audio monitoring device in advanced audio settings, however OBS doesn't actually change the device unless I close and reopen OBS. For example, I set the device to be VB-Audio Virtual Cable, which is an input in VoiceMeeter, but no sound was being sent to VB-Audio Virtual Cable until I closed and reopened OBS while it was the currently selected device. If I then changed the device to "Speakers/Headphones (Realtek(R) Audio)" OBS would still monitor the source using VB-Audio Virtual Cable until I closed OBS. If I close OBS while "Speakers/Headphones (Realtek(R) Audio)" is the selected device, then reopen OBS, there's no audio coming through my headphones...
While this issue is going on, the audio is still being output to the stream/recording like normal. It's simply the audio monitoring that's crapped itself. It isn't limited to the browser source, I tested with several audio sources and none of them monitored correctly
I understand if this description of my problem is a little confusing. What information / files can I attach to help make it easier? I've included several log files from my tinkering today
I'm using OBS Studio 25.0.8 (64 bit)
