Bug Report Audio Monitoring Device showing Input not Output devices

I have been trying to get Audio Monitoring working on the Mac version 20.1.0 and noticed that the Audio Monitoring Device in Advanced Setup is showing only input devices not output devices? I am assuming since this is showing "Built-in Microphone" and not my "Multi-Output Device" something is switched in the code. ( Note: Have checked on Sierra and High Sierra)

Does this happen on a fresh install with no profiles, scenes or scene collections?

I'm on 20.1 on the Mac with my full settings migrated from the older version, and the audio monitoring device setting shows output devices correctly.

Just switched over to OBS so this is a fresh install / no existing profiles. My personal machine is running High Sierra so I tried installing on my work machine which is running Sierra. Same behavior on both machines.

Can confirm. Seems to be an issue with Sierra and High Sierra on 20.0.1 and 20.1.

The audio monitoring widget is showing input devices instead of audio output devices.

Problem does not show in El Capitan.

Not that I'm aware of.

The only thing I could think of would to use a virtual device like SoundFlower or create a special device in LoopBack, and then forward from that device, which you should be able to select, to the one you're actually using to monitor.

Wayne, we're aware of where that is. The "monitor and output" setting only sends audio from the devices in mixer to the device selected in Settings> Advanced under "audio monitoring device".

The problem is that in 20.1 under MacOS, the devices listed on that page are *input* devices, when they should be *output* devices. That is what Ryan's first screenshot is showing. The dialog there should not be showing a microphone, it should be showing connected output devices (speakers, line out, headphones if connected).

My suggestion was to create a new virtual device, which can be used for input and output, in the hopes that it would show up there.

That said, not everyone has this issue-- so I believe it is only occurring with Sierra / High Sierra, as it does not happen to me with 20.1 on El Capitan (10.11.x).
