I'm perplexed; this has just started happening, perhaps with latest update of OBS, but I'm not sure.
The log files show the environment more completely than I can type it here.
Around 17:50 you can see me fiddling with the settings in the scene "Solo Piano - Olympus + Endora" trying to get something to display.
I am running my microphones into Analog 9 and 10 inputs of an RME Fireface 800.
What is interesting is... that I went ahead and did a recording through OBS with no video source enabled, and I get the Audio from Analog 9 and 10 perfectly - I just can't see the levels on the VU meter.
Is there some setting that I've missed, or is there a bug somewhere in OBS?
FWIW - in a different scene - Solo Piano Olympus - this has not been a problem.
