Question / Help Audio issues (slight screeching in background) only when using OBS.

Hello,

Ever since I set up my OBS, I've had a problem with the quality of the recordings. The audio makes slight screeching noises while recording with OBS. However, these only happen when I record using OBS - everything else seems fine when recording with audacity or any other software.

Any idea how to solve these issues?

I don't hear any screeching in the OBS recording you posted on YouTube. I do notice a quality difference between that and Audacity (the latter sounds cleaner).

Some things to try:

1) Mute OBS output for audio devices not needed for streaming/recording
Go to the mixer
Mute all audio devices not needed (for example, if you got a webcam and it has a mic, and you use a separate mic, mute the webcam mic)
Click on a audio mixer wheel (anyone will do)
Choose advanced audio properties
For the audio monitor dropdowns, set Monitor Off (mute output) for all audio devices you don't want recorded/streamed

2) Check OBS audio filters
Just in case, are you using audio filter properties for each audio source?

3) Sync OBS audio sample rate with Window audio devices
Check the audio sample rate in OBS Studio (Settings | Audio | Sample Rate) against the audio default format setting in Windows Sound for all recording and playback devices to make sure they all match.
