Hey guys, I made a thread over on the Astro forums, so all my setup info is here: http://forums.astrogaming.com/index.php?threads/mic-echoes-and-low-game-audio-please-help-me.345196/

My setup:
Mac - new maxed touch bar, 15" 8gb ram, 4gb graphics, quad i7
PS4
Avermedia Live Gamer Portable 2
Astro A40 with Mixamp TR
OBS
Streaming to YouTube (tried Twitch and got the same results)

My voice is either tinny, or echoey, or on the best occasions, BOTH. and the game volume is pretty low comparatively. But that's not what I'm here for. I NEED to figure out how to make my voice coming through sound like it's not run through T-Pain's voice modulator stuck in a garbage can.

More detail on the setup:
(PS4) Optical out -> Optical In (MixAmp)
(MixAmp) 3.5mm -> 3.5mm (Astro A40 headset, with mic attachment)
(MixAmp) USB OUT -> USB IN (MacBook Pro)
(MixAmp Stream Port) 3.5mm -> Mic In (LGP2 Capture Card)
(LGP2) HDMI out -> HDMI in (PS4)
(LGP2) HDMI in -> HDMI in (TV)
(LGP2) USB out -> USB in (MacBook Pro)

Attached are all my settings.

Please let me know what I'm doing wrong!! I need to get this working properly.

After reading the thread on the Astro forum... I'd say return the headset. You'd be much better off with a decent microphone and any regular set of headphones, and you could probably end up paying less as well.

That said, have you attempted to add a gain filter to the headset's audio input in OBS?
