Hi there,
I apologize if I'm not using the correct terms - I'm new to all of this!
I bought a USB 2.0 audio/video capture adapter (REDGO brand), as my family has tons of old VHS tapes and I'd love to convert them to digital format. The specific adapter I bought comes with a software that doesn't work for Mac, so I downloaded OBS. I did the auto-configuration and was able to set-up to the point that I can see the video and hear some audio. However the audio is in and out (about every 1-2 seconds) and is accompanied by a regular crackling/popping sound. I tried recording anyway, and the audio issue was present with the recording as well. The video also has those coloured lines through it intermittently (which do not appear when I play the same tape on the TV).
I've tried all of the solutions for related audio issues I've seen in various threads here and on Youtube videos (such as checking CPU, turning down the input volume as much as possible for the computer's internal mic, disabling other audio devices in OBS, keeping only one "track" in the audio input capture settings, changing the video and audio bitrate, changing the audio sample rate, changing the video resolution, and changing the FPS value) but nothing has worked so far. I know the VHS/VCR and patch cords work fine. I'm wondering if the issue could be with the capture device itself being defective, or if I should even just be trying a different software. But I'm hoping there's just some simple setting within OBS that I'm missing, as I really like OBS so far otherwise.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
