Question / Help Audio issue

I've found post with this problem in the past but most are 3 years or older. I have a problem where if I open OBS after I start the game the audio takes a nose dive. However if I have OBS open first no issue. I know the simple answer is to always open OBS first, but I would just like to know if there is some setting I have done incorrectly. From what I can tell the audio is recording just fine. It's just the feed into my headphones that is lowering. Like I said there were solutions in the forums but from 3 years ago and I can't seem to figure out how to locate the control panel to see if I can follow through with the rest of the steps. Any help would be much appreciated.

In OBS, go to File -> Settings -> Advanced and ensure "Disable audio ducking" is ticked. If it is, you may need to open the Playback/Recording Devices window provided by Windows, go to the Communication tab, and set it to "Do nothing". If you're on Windows 10, go to the Settings app, then System -> Sound -> Sound Control Panel.
