Question / Help Audio interface Setup Mac ---> Route Multiple outputs/inputs of audio from interface into OBS

Alright let me try to explain. I am running Ableton Live for recording/mixing streaming. I have run through the IshowU setup. If I set my output from within Ableton to iShowU I get audio output from ableton. This is great, however, if I want to use my interface to send output to an analog piece of gear and record it back in this won't work.

Normally when I record, I do not use the "monitor" in from within the DAW... I use the monitoring feature through the interface so there is no latency. How do I set it up so that I can monitor multiple outputs and inputs from my Audio interface directly into OBS. Basically Just tell OBS to mirror the audio interface.

Nothing seems to be working.

Just a question of nomenclature. Everything available will show up as an audio "input".

OBS is a stereo program without native support for multichannel devices or any audio routing other than the monitor feature. To deal with multichannel device routing I use LoopBack with OBS.

So basically the problem is if I choose to send the audio via Loopback in ableton... that overrides my interface. How do you deal with more than just the stereo signal in Loopback?

When I play an outboard synth and make it come through input 3-4, I can hear it coming through the output of the interface. All audio on the interface gets sent out 1-2, including the Ableton signal. What is the best way to just tell OBS to monitor and receive this signal?

Thanks for the help.

SOLVED.... the most recent version of loopback allows you to actually route the signals very easily via digital patch cables... anyone confused just download LOOPBACK

Versions 1.x and 2.x of LoopBack allow this, just the UI is different. I actually stayed with 1.x for various reasons. But in any case, you can make any arbitrary number of virtual devices, and assign to it arbitrary channels from any number of multichannel hardware devices. It's pretty neat.
