Audio from the streamed project dulled

I'm on a mac with an operating system below OS 13. I was able to record the video of the streamed content fine, but the audio was recording from my external mic. Is there any way to capture the original audio from the streamed content? If so, can someone please advise? Currently the source I'm using is "Display Capture" as the macOS Screen Capture doesn't appear to work on the version of my OS.
